McWaters
Bill Gresham
Over the past year, a fresh new look and logo has appeared on those McWaters trucks you may have seen driving around town. McWaters, which started right here in Columbia in 1945, went through a rebranding this past year to ensure a consistent look across its operations in Columbia, Savannah, Florence, Orangeburg, and most recently, Augusta.
Have you ever wondered where those trucks are going?
"Our customer is any organization that wants to move or grow its business," says Bill Gresham, owner of McWaters since 1993.
If you get a chance, go down to Shop Road and check out the retail space at the McWaters showroom and dream a little. There you will meet some of the friendliest and most accessible people in town and you'll also catch a glimpse into what office workspaces in the 21st century can and should look like.
"We create comfortable workspaces," says Bill Gresham. "We help our customers optimize their productivity and achieve better business results through effective workplace planning."
In this day and age when businesses have requests as far-reaching as in-house dry cleaners and lactation centers, separate areas for employees who may be sick, and with the new focus on sustainability and environmentally friendly workspaces, McWaters has evolved into more than just a furniture store.
"We are the aspirin of the furniture business; if you have problems 9 times out 10 we can be a single source for your solution," says William Gresham, Bill Gresham's son and current company President. There are not a lot of businesses around that can offer the range of products and services that McWaters can. They can even help you with your flooring, the walls, and the lighting. "We have solutions from the ground to the ceiling; we offer our customers a total environmental solution."
McWaters prides itself on doing the job right the first time. It is able to deliver a quality service through its top-notch interior design team, its operations department and importantly, highly trained installers who are employees, not outsourced temporary workers.
Another area where McWaters can help your business is if you are considering a move or renovation. Businesses can't afford to have any down time during a move or renovation and the coordination of this kind of a project takes planning and expertise. "Our slogan is, "We make working easier," says Bill Gresham. "More accurately we could expand that to say, we make working and moving easier.
"A lot of our customers also need help setting up all of their computers'" says William Gresham. "We can do it all, and we will do it in the most efficient manner possible to minimize the impact on your business. Depending on the job, we can often get it all done over a weekend when your employees are not at work."
