Hay Hill Services, Inc., with headquarters and a holding nursery in nearby St. Matthews, SC, offers landscape architectural services from design to final implementation.

Started by local entrepreneur Fred Gantt, Hay Hill Services has evolved into a full service landscaping company that can handle any of your outdoor project needs.  "We do everything," says Gantt.

With the addition of licensed landscape architect David Stack as a partner in the business, the company has taken design and installation to the next level.  "When David and I began working together several years ago, we found our talents  complementary and decided to team up," says Gantt. "Although much of our  construction and installation business is, and will continue to be, contracted out to us by landscape architects and designers, we now have in-house capability to take a project from initial concept to completion. Often, that can save you money."

The key differentiator at Hay Hill is the staff. "We have three landscape architects/ designers and an engineer on staff," says Gantt. "When you factor in the talent of our brick masons and concrete finishers as well as the employed team that implements the planting, lighting, and irrigation – you're just not going to find another landscaping firm in the Midlands with as diversified and as deep a talent pool as we have."

Backyards certainly have evolved over the past decade. Outdoor terraces, fireplaces, fire pits, pools and fountains all put together  with a variety of quality hardscape materials are the norm. "Many people are in the stay at home mode these days," says Stack.

"There is a trend towards using time spent in the backyard almost as vacation time. People want their backyard to be a more user-friendly extension of their house," says Stack.

The most important part of Hay Hill's job is the interaction with the customers during  he time that it takes to consult, design and complete a project.

Says Gantt: "The greatest indicator of the quality of the relationships that we build is that many of our customers invite us to parties at their homes. We experience first hand an environment that we have created."
