COLUMBIA, SC - August 30th - Interim Columbia Police Chief C.E. Burke announced that the Department's Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) and Texas Roadhouse are hosting the 1st annual "GREAT STEAK-OUT" on Monday, August 30th from 11:00am-3:00pm at the 400 Columbiana Drive location.

The "GREAT STEAK-OUT" is a fundraiser to raise money for the CPAAA's Scholarship and Medical Assistance Fund.  Officers from the Columbia Police Department will serve as wait staff during the lunch hours.

The CPAAA's Scholarship and Medical Assistance Fund was created to provide scholarship money to the children of active or retired Columbia Police Officers who are enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited college or university for undergraduate studies.  This year the CPAAA has included medical assistance in the fund.  This will provide monetary compensation to Columbia Police Officers who may need assistance with non-job related medical expenses.
