Wednesday Lenten Series to Examine Prayer of St. Francis

CHAPIN, SC – February 24th - March 24th, 2010 - St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church will examine the meaning and relevance of the Prayer of St. Francis in today’s world as part of its Wednesday evening observances during Lent (February 24 – March 24). Attributed to the 13th century saint, St. Francis' prayer is a bold one, asking for strength to give of one’s self in order to meet the needs of others. Led by lay people and clergy from around the Midlands, each speaker will take a part of the prayer and facilitate a discussion on how it still impacts our daily lives all these years later.

Parishioners and members of the community are invited to attend the Wednesday evening series, which begins with a light potluck supper of soup, salad and bread at 6:00 pm and the presentations start at 6:30 pm. The schedule is provided below:

February 24, licensed professional counselor Linda Gill will look at consolation.

March 3, retired Lutheran pastor, Rev. Jim Nichols will examine understanding.

March 10, Rev. Dr. Tom Glenn, an ordained Presbyterian (USA) minister, will discuss love.
