Kart Racing Enthusiasts Converge on Gaston, SC to Compete For Cash, Prizes and Bragging Rights
GASTON, SC, June 24, 2009 Palmetto Motorsports Complex is pleased to announce that it will host the Maxxis National 2009 Kart Races on July 3-5, 2009 in a weekend extravaganza of Kart racing fun. Kart racing, dubbed the "Working Man's NASCAR" is fast, fun and exciting for drivers and spectators alike. A family activity, Kart racing began in the late 1950s in California where airmen raced their Karts to pass the time. Go karts are related to open-wheel racing such as Formula One and Indy Car. In fact, many top professional race car drivers, including Michael Schumacher, Sarah Fisher, Darrell Waltrip, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Kyle Petty, got their start on the go kart racing circuit.
The weekend will consist of the "Dash4Cash" races on July 3rd with the Maxxis National held on July 4th. Sunday, July 5th will be the "ProClass Cash Bash" with $5000 in prize money guaranteed. For more detailed information on the races, visit www.palmettocomplex.com.
Spectators are welcome! Activities include a Friday night Dollar Pig Pickin' and a fireworks show on Saturday night. Price of admission for adults is $20 for a full day's pass or $35 for a weekend pass. Children 6 and under free.
Palmetto Motorsports Complex
Palmetto Motorsports Complex is located at 1465 Hwy. 6, four miles north of Swansea, SC. In addition to the Kart track, it has a rider's park consisting of 14 miles of wooded, clean, one-way trails for ATVs, dirt bikes and side-by-sides. Tracks include a Pee Wee track and a beginner motocross track pus intermediate and advanced tracks for the more experienced rider. Fun additions include a mud pit and a sand drag for some friendly competition. The Complex is equipped with a concession, restrooms and showers, a camping area for overnight stays and spacious parking. Open Wednesday through Sunday.
