Fall Festival at Capital Senior Center
Friday, October 26 from 10AM to 2PM
COLUMBIA, SC - The Capital Senior Center is gearing up to host its 2012 Fall Festival on Friday, October 26 from 10AM to 2PM. The event is free and open to the public. This annual fundraiser for the Center draws crowds of all ages for a day of food, fun and information on important senior services available to the community.
Mary Kessler, Executive Director at the Capital Senior Center, estimates between 400-500 visitors to this year’s festival and notes that the Center is excited to welcome people from all generations to the event. “As a recreation facility which focuses on senior health and fitness, we welcome the opportunity to educate families in our community about senior services and resources available to older family members.” Please stop in and enjoy this event with us! This year, Mayor Benjamin has accepted an invitation to attend, as well as several other members of City, County and State legislature.
WIS TV’s Joe Pinner will serve as master of ceremonies for an exciting stage lineup of music: the New Horizon Dixieland Band, the Palmetto Mastersingers, the Columbia Classical Ballet, and Elvis impersonator Phil Urban are all scheduled to perform. Demonstrations by the Capital Senior Center’s exercise and dance classes will highlight the senior fitness programs available at the Capital Senior Center.
Other highlights of the festival include over 30 Senior Service Vendors and Organizations, a Chili Luncheon Buffet offered at $5 per person, a “Family Favorites” Bake Sale and a lot of great Door Prizes. Healthy lifestyle is always on the agenda; Walgreen’s will offer Flu Shots from 10AM-2PM. No appointment necessary, but bring your Medicare card or $35.
