Pearl Fryar Open House to Benefit the American Red Cross
COLUMBIA, SC - October 16, 2012 - Locally-renowned Topiary Artist, Pearl Fryar will open his garden for free tours to benefit the American Red Cross on Thursday, October 18 through Saturday, October 20. Located north of I-20 off Highway 15 at 145 Broad Acres Road in Bishopville, Pearl's beautiful garden has been featured in many garden magazines and on HGTV.
Pearl will provide tours of his garden all three days. On Saturday, October 20, he will demonstrate how to create a topiary masterpiece at 11:45 a.m. followed by a silent auction of art pieces. Local artists include, Tom Brown, English Cooper, Ann Bowen, Ray Davenport, Mary Parnell, Carolyn Cumalander, Christine Shirley, Sammie Sherod, Artists' View Creations, Whitney Kalke, Cindy Welsh and Frances Drayton.
"We are very excited about the Pearl's Open House and his desire to help the local community and the American Red Cross," said Nancy Cataldo, executive director, American Red Cross, Sandhills Chapter. "We are encouraging everyone to come out to this fun, family-friendly event and support the important work that we provide 365 days a year to members of our community."
BBQ sandwiches and drinks will be available for purchase on Saturday, September 20. Entertainment will be provided by Lee Central High School Choir.
In observation of Fire Prevention Month emergency response vehicles will be on display.
Admission is free, however donations are encouraged. 100 percent of the proceeds raised at the event will benefit the local Red Cross.
