Major Expansion of Ladies Shoe Department Underway at Belk of Columbiana Mall in Columbia, SC

COLUMBIA, SC - September 1, 2010 - Belk today announced a major expansion of the ladies shoe department at its Columbiana Mall store in Columbia, S.C. The project will increase the size of the current shoe department by 50 percent to 11,500 square feet of space allowing the store to significantly increase its selection of top-name shoe brands and styles. The expansion is scheduled for completion by October 1.
According to Mark Sonenshein, store manager of Belk of Columbiana Mall, “We’re investing nearly $1.9 million to make Belk the number one ladies shoe destination in Columbia. The expansion project will include a total renovation of our ladies shoe area, including an attractive new décor and display fixtures. The added space will enable us to greatly expand our assortments and offer customers a number of great new brands, including Lauren, Cole Haan, Calvin Klein, Frye, Michael Michael Kors, Sam Edelman, Vince Camuto, Coach, UGG and Merrell.
“We’re excited to be able to provide more of the shoe brands, styles and sizes that our customers want, and our well-trained shoe specialists look forward to helping them find just the shoe that they’re looking for.”
In addition to the shoe department expansion, Belk of Columbiana Mall has added a Brighton handbag and accessories shop and will begin offering Coach handbags. The store has also updated its costume jewelry area with new white and chrome merchandise fixtures and signing. The area will offer expanded assortments of the latest styles and top brands of modern costume jewelry and is designed with open display fixtures rather than closed cases to enhance merchandise presentation and make it easier for customers to shop and find what they’re looking for.
