COLUMBIA, SC - March 10, 2010 - That’s right! When you hire individuals referred by the SC Department of Social Services you will be reimbursed 100% of wages and fringe costs (i.e. taxes) for up to six months. This new Subsidized Transitional Employment Program (STEP) is open to any public or private employer who is in good standing with Federal and Local Governments and who carries a current Workers Compensation policy. Reimbursement will be at a rate of $7.25 per hour for 20 hours per week for six months! Employers must be committed to retaining the participant after the six month subsidized employment period. This is a great opportunity for you to train a new employee at absolutely no cost to you!
SC STEP is funded with Federal Stimulus dollars and will end September 30, 2010. Don’t delay! For more details contact Elaine Clarkson at Richland County Department of Social Services, 803-714-7547; ethel.clarkson@dss.sc.gov, or call the SC Department of Social Services at 803-898-7436.
