COLUMBIA, SC - March 7, 2010 - We are pleased to announce that Healthy Learners Midlands is the recipient of the Daybreak Adult Care Services February Charity Giveaway. On Thursday, March 4th, 2010 Joyce Romero, Daybreak’s Marketing Director presented a check for $500 to Teri Stomski, Midlands Advisory Board Chairperson, Jo Pauling-Jones, Executive Director and Cindy Poole, Midlands Coordinator & Assistant Executive Director.

Daybreak Adult Care Services donates $500 each month to the charity who receives the most votes on their website. Teri Stomski learned of the fundraising opportunity from a television commercial and contacted Coker Day, owner of Daybreak Adult Care Services to share Healthy Learners mission with him and to find out more information. Teri told Healthy Learners program staff about the opportunity and Cindy Poole emailed Midlands’s board members, school nurses and other partners and friends of Healthy Learners to ask for their support by voting online during the month of February. The monetary award will go towards providing eye exams and glasses, assistance with prescription medications, dental care, doctor’s visits and other much needed health care services to uninsured and underinsured children in the Midlands program area.
Healthy Learners, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, is devoted to removing children’s health barriers to learning with love and compassion.
