Five Associates Join Nelson Mullins in Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC - December 28, 2012 - Five new associates have joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in its Columbia office.

Jarrett Coco practices in the areas of business litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, e-discovery and litigation readiness, and records and document management. Prior to joining the Firm, he served an internship for South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Hoefer Toal. He also has worked as a business analyst for two Fortune 500 information technology companies. Mr. Coco earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2012 from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, from Mercyhurst College in 1998.

Adam Hegler practices in the areas of pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, products liability, and business litigation. Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, he served a clerkship for the Honorable Joseph F. Anderson, Jr., United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Hegler earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 2011 from the University of South Carolina School of Law, a Masters of Arts in History from the University of Alabama in 2008, and his Bachelor of Arts in History, magna cum laude, from Clemson University in 2006.

David Paavola practices in the areas of business litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, and products liability. Before joining the Firm, he served internships with the Honorable Henry F. Floyd, former U.S. District Judge, District of South Carolina, and  the Honorable Margaret B. Seymour, U.S. District Judge, District of South Carolina. Mr. Paavola earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 2012 from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration, Financial Services and Planning from Baylor University in 2002.

Brandon Smith practices in the areas of products liability, commercial litigation, and environmental litigation. Mr. Smith earned his Juris Doctor in 2012 from the University of South Carolina and his Bachelor of Science in Government and Psychology from Wofford College in 2004. He recently completed a term on the American Bar Association (ABA) Board of Governors and serves on the ABA Committee on Truth in Law School Education, the ABA Law Student Division Advisory Committee, University Associates of the University of South Carolina, the Partnerships Committee for the University of South Carolina Alumni Association, and the Usher's Guild of First Presbyterian Church in Columbia.

Blake Williams practices in the areas of business litigation and consumer financial services litigation. Mr. Williams earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2012 from the University of South Carolina School of Law; his Bachelor of Science in Financial Management, cum laude, from Clemson University Calhoun Honors College in 2009; and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, cum laude, from Clemson University in 2009.
