‘If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies’ –Anonymous
ORANGEBURG, SC – August 1, 2012 - Butterflies: the ultimate metaphor of leaving the past behind and becoming something new. Retired state employee Veronica Crutchfield relates this idea to her life and writs, Chrysalis: The Transformation of His Child, to show others why it’s important to leave the past behind and move forward.
Growing up in an abusive household, facing divorce, attempting suicide and experiencing the death of a daughter would be enough to make a person fall apart, but Crutchfield found the key to rising above: forgiveness.
Chrysalis is the story of Crutchfield’s journey through life, the lessons she learned about forgiveness and the power of her faith in God, and how it all ultimately transformed her as a person. Her grandmother’s guidance and her steadfast faith gave Crutchfield the strength to overcome her adversities and achieve mercy, grace and love.
“You can’t help what happens to you in life, but you can help the way you react to any given situation,” Crutchfield says. “Overcoming a victim mentality will help you become the person that God created you to be.”
Crutchfield knew she wanted to be a writer since age 10, but after certain events in her life began to transpire, she realized she had to live a path of hardships and overcome them before she really had something meaningful to share.
“Everyone at some season of life needs to forgive or be forgiven and everyone can relate to some type of suffering,” Crutchfield says. “This book provides the ability to overcome and hope for a better future.”
