Presbyterian College opens new spirit store on campus

CLINTON, SC - July 31, 2012 - Presbyterian College students this fall can get their Blue Hose gear on campus and order their books online thanks to a few changes made this summer.
Following the closing last spring of the college’s official bookstore in downtown Clinton, PC elected to re-establish a college store on campus to sell college-branded merchandise. The college also elected to establish a fully automated online bookstore for students and their professors.
Operated by Sodexo, which also provides food service for PC, the new spirit store is located in a renovated space at Greenville Dining Hall. The store will offer PC hats, shirts, sweats, and shorts; in addition to gift items like pennants, stickers, glassware, and flags, according to operations manager Amy Ahlum. She said the store will expand its offerings this fall to include colorful polo shirts, hoodies, water bottles, and Tervis tumblers. When students arrive this semester, they also will be invited to participate in a contest to name the new bookstore on campus, said Ahlum.
The store currently is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Beginning Aug. 13, hours will expand to 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. The store also will remain open on Saturdays during home football games.
As for textbooks, PC students will now follow the trend of buying them online, said executive director of business operations David Walker. The college has partnered with MBS Direct, a national textbook services company, which will allow students to buy new and used textbooks, as well as digital versions of their course material.
“We’ve already used the automated system for both sessions of summer school and, so far, it has worked well,” said Walker.
Students and PC fans can access both the online bookstore and the spirit store by going to pc.textbooktech.com.
